The occurrence of Indian summer monsoon rainfall (ISMR) during June to September, especially over the eastern Gangetic plain India, is lifeline for densely residing people. intraseasonal and interannual variability in ISMR provokes drought flood conditions largely affects agriculture practices. Owing its importance, several studies on meteorological subdivisions, namely West Bengal (WB), Jharkhand (JH), Bihar (BR), East Uttar Pradesh (EUP), (WUP), respectively, have been conducted; however, contribution large-scale precipitation (LSP) convective (CP) needs discuss. LSP precipitated out from stratus or nimbostratus clouds, while CP occurs cumulus cumulonimbus both them coexist months. objective this paper analyze discuss climatological characteristics possible causes subdivisions. For purpose, data LSP, CP, zonal, meridional (u v components) wind, relative humidity (rh) at spatial resolution 0.25° × period 1980–2019 are taken European Centre Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) a surface 1° same periods obtained National Environmental Information (of NOAA). observed India Meteorological Department considered compared with ECMWF Reanalysis (ERA5) data. temporal distribution types analyzed, their linkage OLR, zonal winds, rh pressure levels 1000 hPa, 850 700 hPa (in lower troposphere) examined. daily values relatively higher (lower) each subdivision. associated OLR noticed Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, seen UP. From change i.e., easterly westerly vice versa, large amount (>80%) may be possibly initiated moist activity more precipitating comparison Pradesh.
